These sounds of fierceness belong to none other than the Noisettes. (also known as NOISEttes, to mark the difference from a noisette – which is a cooking term meaning hazelnut flavored. The more you know!) The Noisettes are an indie rock band from London. They are compromised of guitarist Dan Smith, drummer Jamie Morrison and singer/bassist Shinigai Shoniwa.
Shingai, not content with having one of the wickedest names ever, has an amazing sense of style and a fantastic hairdo.
The band formed in 2003, after the members met at the BRIT School for Performing Arts & Technology in Croydon, England. They were listed in Entertainment Weekly as an Indie Brit Band on the cusp.
Not only that but the band does goodwill too – they performed an exclusive rendition of a specially created track along with their own material to raise money for the homelessness charity Crisis Consequences.
I love the Noisettes because they feel like the perfect kind of music to listen to as you cruise on a breezy spring day. Of course, as the weather begins to warm in Pittsburgh (and that’s saying a lot, it’s normally quite gloomy here!) this music is absolutely perfect.
I plan to chill to my Noisettes CD while drinking fizzy water and reading a wonderful book.
You can learn more about the Noisettes at their official site and you can purchase their albums “What’s the Time Mr. Wolf?” and “Wild Young Hearts” (where both of these featured songs are from) wherever music is commonly sold.
What are you listening to on this Monday afternoon?
